Medical Defence Organisation (MDO)
Would you require your new indemnity arrangement to cover the retrosepctive period with the MDO?
*
Yes
No
Unsure
If you have had occurrence-based indemnity from a MDO, you will still have a right to apply to them at any time in the future to request discretionary assistance and indemnity for any new matters that surface in the future from your period of membership with them. They would normally continue to assist you with any existing cases where applicable. With their "discretionary" nature the MDO may choose not to respond.
Insurance Backed Indemnity Provider
Are you insured on a 'claims made' or 'claims occurrence' basis?
*
Claims Made
Claims Occurrence
Unsure
The majority of insurance providers offer 'claims made' policies. Which Simply means cover is in force for any treatment provided during the policy period. When the policy lapses the cover lapses. 'Claims occurrence' cover simply means it will cover claims occurring during the period of insurance irrespective of whether the policy is in force. If you switch providers the claims occurrence policy will cover any claims that may arise for treatment performed during the time the policy was in force.
